Understanding Life Through Contrast
The fabric that weaves us together is far from consistent How many of us can perceive when sadness is necessary in which to grasp happiness. It is sometimes out of the grief and sorrow that we can understand what makes joy so great. The light of happiness may not appear so bright if the shadows of misfortune are absent. It helps us climb the high mountains of happiness that follows after traversing lows!
Likewise, the white noise of our days has a way to obliterate the calm that silence offers. The world is so loud: our phones light up with notifications, streets pulsating in every city across the globe and a constant chatter that drones on. Except that, it is when in the rare grace of silence variety we really treasure what peace stillness has to offer. It is in silence that we are able to bathe, recharge and connect with our true selves. Acknowledging the scarcity of some silence in our turbulent lives lets us wander around to look for those moments, and they could probably give you better peace of mind as well as emotional health.
It also amplifies the lack of loved ones. It is one of those things that we can equally say as a simple truth — until its lost, human beings do not appreciate what they have around them. It can manifest in any number of ways: geographical separation, death or other forms of loss (which are often glossed into approximation through the oft-repeated assertion that time heals all wounds), by ordinary busy-ness pulling us along and side-to-side. To appreciate the seconds we have with others, to learn how to experience presence and lay our hearts on the line. Even so, for all that absence brings into focus the nature of connection with others.
So to sum it up, accepting the polarities of life — sadness and joy, noise and peace or absence and time with others — allows us to navigate our emotions in a much more controlled fashion. In appreciating opposites, we eek out more of life and connect on a wavelength that illuminates what it is really all about. Thus, we should embrace both the sides of a coin and proceed further unraveling this intricate journey called life. ✨
